In Flagranti (DJ and Visuals Set) - Tue 9th February 2010 - 8pm

These guys have been popping out future disco classics for a while now but it's with new cut ExExEx that we suspect they're going to really come into the torchlight of attention where they belong. It's a huge record! All wah wah disco guitars, glam rock groove, big room funk and a silly vocal that makes it sound like The Waitresses for this generation! Special.

    Air Waves - Fri 12th February 2010 - 1.15pm

Much loved by our friends at Pitchfork, who recently said, ""Nicole Schneit is an amazing songwriter. The music she writes is like a favorite blanket wrapped around you. Drummer Dave Ferraro complements her songs well. Shine On is my current favorite song by them." Really chuffed to have this fine new NY band coming in to play live as part of a chunky European tour.

    Think About Life - Tue 16th February 2010 - 1.15pm

This is a mixed one this! Part goofy rocky hip-hop with pitched up rave samples and part hyperspeed piano ballads with falsetto vocals, it could be terrible. But if it were then it wouldn't be on at Pure Groove would it?! It's a massive bag of party fun that's also got plenty of cracking songs to back up the mayhem. Playing a few dates round London at White Heat and Upset The Rhythm and a little lunchtime show for you!

    Bass Clef - Tue 16th February 2010 - 8pm

A melding of jump up soca beats, dubstep bottom end and widescreen jazz interludes, Bass Clef live is one hell of an experience. The beats will have you bouncing uncontrollably then he hits you with the big fat trombone run through a million effects pedals - it's a big, big sound. Great to have him play, we saw him at Royal Festival Hall recently and he was INCREDIBLE.

Recently tipped by Time Out, Theodore is a homegrown British talent in the folk scene and her forthcoming album is quite lovely. Beautiful warm melodies and lush musicianship make her standout from the hordes.

    Merok presents Don't Die Wondering w/ Young Athletes League and Vision Of Trees - Mon 22nd February 2010 - 7.30pm - 10pm

Don't Die Wondering is a blog, a club night, and now - a compilation. So far, so every single gang of music heeds in the world. What makes this one so special is that it's run by Merok Records, the label set up by one half of The Big Pink a few years ago, which was one of the first to bring The Klaxons, Crystal Castles, Salem, Telepathe and about a hundred other bands to exposure.

This first edition of 'Don't Die Wondering' brings together some of the UK's most promising up-and-coming artists, albeit in a highly eclectic and mixed bag, ranging from the highly buzzed-about 'doss-pop' of Egyptian Hip Hop, to the ethereal lo-fi anthems of A Grave With No Name and Dignan Porch, to the kraut-rock experimentation of Elapse-O, and all the way to the feverish electronic dreamscapes of Visions Of Trees and Becoming Real.

And now two of these acts are booked to play live!

    King & The Olive Fields - Tue 23rd February 2010 - 8pm

We're loving the sound of this lot, who channel ukulele-backed instrumentation with some beautiful folk lullabies that seem the perfect soundtrack to a hazy summer's afternoon. Although there's something a little bit ominous in lead singer's Philip's wonderful vocals which keeps it absorbing and cliche-free. There are some fantastic dual vocal moments where he's also joined by cohort Charly Morris, and a real lovely mix of other sounds in here, with brass, banjos and various percussion bits all bringing a delicious sound. With Mumford & Sons and Noah & The Whale both breaking into the public's hearts in the last two years, we wouldn't be surprised if King and co become the next band you fall in love with.

    Broadcast 2000 - Thu 25th February 2010 - 1.15pm

A full acoustic set from the band (ie no mics or PA being used AT ALL!) this will be a lovely wintery treat for you. Delicate songs that fans of recent hits Leisure Society will love, Broadcast 2000 bring a beautiful mix of warm strings and uplifting vocals that fans of early Noah & The Whale will also cherish.

    Too Young To Love - Fri 26th February 2010 - 1.15pm

Recent support act to The Big Pink, fans of the 4AD act's overwhelming, claustrophic sound will find much to live in TYTL's similarly twisted world. There's also a nod to the excellent Canadian act Salem and even a tad of M83 in this creepy melding of bleak 80s teen movie soundtrack synths with the kind of dark, dubby beats that frightens your neighbours.

    Scary Mansion - Mon 1st March 2010 - 1.15pm

Brooklyn’s Scary Mansion are one of Pure Groove’s big tips for the year – a mix between tender Cat Power or Scoutt Niblett-style soul cuts and darker, Joy Formidable-style nu-gaze. Check this instore out – likely to be a busy one as we suspect the blogs will go a bit nuts for this in coming months.

    Record Of The Day presents - Citadels - Monday 1st March 2010 - 8.30pm

You'll be hearing a lot from this spacey act next year, with their big Flaming Lips-tinged widescreen pop pricking up a lot of ears. So much so that we're doing their second single as a Pure Groove exclusive on our own label. The Chemical Song is a massive record, with MGMT-esque booming choruses that you can imagine hearing all summer long from giant stages in muddy fields as the British summer serves up another endless downpoar.

    Rose Melberg - Thu 4th March 2010 - 1.15pm

Canadian Rose Melberg is on the ever-amazing K Records in the States and now coming over to these shores. Dreamy acoustic soundscapes and her duvet-soft tones are enough to bring peace to any ruptured world. We're really excited about having her play in Pure Groove. She used to be in The Softies if you remember them.
