    Chew Lips @ Pure Groove - Monday 6th July 2009 - 9pm Late Show!

Really wonderful new act on Kitsune who've been causing a bit of a stir. Fronted by Tigs, whose music we've stocked before in Pure Groove, Chew Lips come across like Florence And The Machine being ravaged by analogue synths. Late instore - couple of hours after Phenomenal Handclap Band!

    Slow Club @ Pure Groove - Tuesday 7th July 2009, 7.30pm

Slow Club are one of the best new bands in the land. Singer Becky often moonlights with Noah And The Whale but this, her main project, is where her voice really comes alive. A fantastic debut album (at last!) showcasing their fantastic shanty-singalong folk-pop aceness.

    Cymbals Eats Guitars @ Pure Groove - Friday 10th July 2009 - 1.15pm

The next release on Transparent comes from Cymbals Eats Guitars, who are so hot on the blog world now that my cables melted the last time I visited Gorilla vs Bear. Their new single is a double header of delectable Americana indie rock - think Janes Addiction meets Modest Mouse. Brilliant recent album and this is an ace single from it - special instore show for YOU and YOU and YOU!

Peter Liversidge's Soundclash - Sat 11th July 12pm till close!

Renowned artist Peter Liversidge brings the latest stage of his Proposals series to Pure Groove for an all-day musical session! More on the artist can be found at:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2009/jan/21/artist-peter-liversidge

Soundclash is a durational performance consisting of a group (more than three) of non-professional DJs. The DJs are only allowed to bring a maximum of 25 records.

There is a ritual at the start of a sound clash which will determine its structure; there is a hat in which single numbers (the same number as the DJs performing) are placed - each DJ picks a number from the hat, this determines the order in which the DJs are to play.

The purpose of the strict order is so that each DJ has a starting point in the group, allowing them to work out how and what to play. The music played can be of any style but must link in some way through song title, band name, lyric, type etc…to form a loose narrative throughout the performance.

At Pure Groove there will be two pre-determined rounds:

    - a 7” record round
    - a round where the music played must reference meat

    Solid Gold @ Pure Groove, 14th July 2009 @ 1.15pm

Much talked about Minneapolis band who are on the verge on signing to a big UK label over here. This is their last limited release for the forseeable future, and it oozes synth pop joy, but with a slightly darker edge than many of the New York bands like Passion Pit, MGMT etc.
