Right, so you're probably wondering what this new Pure Groove thing is all about...
Okay, so we used to be a shop in Archway in north east London. We started in 1989, selling imported dance records, then set up some labels, and evolved the shop until we were literally bursting at the seams. Our instores couldn't hold more than 50 people, we couldn't hold any more records and we couldn't hold our stress levels any more! So it was time for a change.
We've moved to a swanky new shop beside Smithfields Market. Why there you might ask. Well, once you come and visit the shop, we're confident you'll see why. It's a lovely location, and the new store looks fantastic, if we do say so ourselves. It's the perfect spot to unveil some of the new projects that we're excited about too. We opened on June 2nd 2008.
At its core, this new place is a record store. But it's more than that - it's a place to hold instore shows (we had Mystery Jets and Lykke Li in the first week...) music related art (we had a My Bloody Valentine exhibition in the first week too!) and generally anything that grabs us and hopefully you! Plus we have a nice wee bar that serves ales, beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks, and charming coffees. We have free wifi too so bring your laptop down and play online pool all day while we play you ace music.
Anyway, if you have any comments (negative,postive,indifferent...) then give us a shout on info@puregroove.co.uk - we'll endeavour to reply to them all.
